Worcester Conservatives are the largest group in Worcester City Council after gaining Gorse Hill from Labour. Worcester City Council’s four year electoral cycle results in one third of councillors being elected each year and an election break during the fourth year. On Thursday 3rd May residents in Battenhall, Bedwardine, Claines, Gorse Hill, St Peter’s Parish, Warndon, Warndon Parish North and Warndon Parish South were able to vote for who they wanted to represent them on the City Council.
Worcester Conservatives proved that there is no safe seat on the City Council by taking Gorse Hill from Labour, due to Labour’s complacency and expectations to win the seat without performing any campaigning. We are delighted to welcome Cllr Altaf to our group on Worcester City Council as the first ever Conservative Councillor representing Gorse Hill ward. We also welcome back Cllr Stuart Denlegh-Maxwell who will be representing Claines after his 23 year absence.
We also take pleasure in announcing that councillors Bill Amos (Bedwardine), Mike Johnson (St Peter’s Parish), Stephen Hodgson (Warndon Parish North) and Andy Roberts (Warndon Parish South) were all re-elected.
Thank you to our candidates who were not elected to Worcester City Council in 2018, you fought great campaigns and in many wards increased our vote share for us to build upon going forward.
